Your guide to Gua Sha

Your guide to Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a Chinese medicine that increases circulation and improves lymphatic function, resulting in a naturally dewy, glowing complexion. The action of gently scraping the Gua Sha tool across the skin aids in serum/moisturizer product penetration, so those juicy phytonutrients go deeper into the layers of skin to feed us even more hydration.

Katie, the founder and formulator here at Sabbia Co has a degree in Chinese medicine.

How do you use the Gua Sha?

Step 1: Apply 1 full dropper of Antioxidant Repair Oil to your face, neck and chest. Use light pressure to massage the Gua Sha across your face. Working from right to left in a circle (right jawline, right cheek, right brow, forehead, left brow, left cheek, left jawline). Repeat each motion 5-10 times

Jawline: Gently sweep from the chin along the jawline in an upward motion towards the ears.

Cheeks: Gently sweep from the center of the face and work outwards towards the ears, being careful and extremely gentle near the eye area.

Brows: Sweep Gua Sha gently across the brow line, starting from the center and working outwards.

Forehead: Gently sweep in an upwards motion towards the hairline.

Neck: Gently press at the base of the neck, above the collar bone, and move in an upwards motion towards the jaw.

Gua Sha Benefits

Gua Sha is known to decrease puffiness, promote anti-aging, improve elasticity, detoxify the skin, rebuild collagen and improve skin tone. It's like a natural face-lift — one that leaves your skin looking younger, firmer and brighter.

How many times a week should I use my Gua Sha?

For best results, we recommend 2-3 times per week.

Can I use a Gua Sha if I am suffering from breakouts?

We suggest if you are suffering from skin irritations and breakouts not use the gua sha. You don’t want to course any further irritation to your skin or spread bacteria.
