Why Niacinamide is a skincare MUST-HAVE

Why Niacinamide is a skincare MUST-HAVE - Sabbia Co

Now that we have officially launched our NEW brightening niacinamide serum, I finally get to gush over how incredible and versatile niacinamide is when incorporated into a skincare routine.

The easiest way for me to explain Niacinamide, is to compare it to that perfect kid you knew in school; straight A’s, absolute stunner, good at sports, and you can’t even hate them because they’re the nicest person ever. That’s niacinamide.

So what is niacinamide?

Niacinamide is a naturally occurring vitamin (vitamin b3 to be specific), which is found in the body and in many foods you eat every day. Its’ benefits span over so many different skin concerns, and it’s incredible at addressing each of them - so let’s break it down. Here are 5 reasons Niacinamide should be the holy grail of your skincare routine.

1. It helps brighten the skin

At Sabbia Co, we are dedicated to helping you achieve your skin goals and leaving you with a nourished and natural glow, and our NEW brightening niacinamide serum is no exception to that rule. When niacinamide is absorbed into the skin it helps break down melanin and prevent melanin pigments (melanin pigments are the causes of dark spots and hyperpigmentation) from moving towards the surface layer of the skin, as well as helping to minimise the appearance of pores and giving you an even skin tone. Niacinamide is packed full of incredible antioxidant properties that help brighten and give your skin a truly glowing complexion.

2. It helps reduce oil production

One of niacinamide’s most commonly known benefits, is that it helps regulate sebum and lipids in your sebaceous gland.

Your sebaceous gland is the master of oil production in the skin. If you have oily skin, it means that you tend to have overactive sebaceous glands. By using Niacinamide regularly in your skincare routine, the niacinamide will penetrate the skin and help regulate the amount of oil produced by the gland. So if you’re looking for a way to help treat oily skin, niacinamide is going to be your new best friend.

3. It helps improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

In a 2002 study performed by Paul Matts, John Oblong and Donald Bissett, they concluded that “niacinamide exerts multiple benefits on the appearance of ageing / photo-damaged skin”. In other words, Niacinamide proved to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage when applied topically to the skin. Although we (yes, you AND me) know that prevention practices, like wearing SPF daily, are the best way to minimise fine lines and wrinkles, when it comes to repairing your skin, niacinamide is one of the most powerful ingredients to restore that smooth and youthful skin texture - even years later. Which means it is never too late for niacinamide to make a difference for your skin.

4. It helps to heal pimples and prevent breakouts

On top of everything Niacinamide already does, it helps to support ceramides in the skin, which promote a healthy protective barrier that locks in moisture and keeps out skin irritants that may cause pimples. Meanwhile the niacinamide is still working its magic in reducing sebum and lipid production in your sebaceous glands. And if you didn’t know, pimples tend to form due to a build up in your pores, and these build ups are most commonly caused by, excess sebum, dirt or sunscreen/makeup particles that fill and clog your pores. So niacinamide makes it much harder for oils and external factors to build up in your pores. Last but not least, Niacinamide is also an anti-inflammatory, meaning it works to help reduce the swelling and redness that is associated with pimples and breakouts at all stages!

5. It helps combat dryness

Do not fret my dry-skin friends, Niacinamide did not forget about you. Just when we though that niacinamide was done, it strikes again. Niacinamide is known to help restore your moisture barrier and help protect against trans-epidermal water loss. It also works in glorious harmony with your daily moisturisers and serums to help boost their effectiveness. This is the case especially when those products contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin c. So if you’re looking for hydration salvation, I highly recommend my personal skincare holy trinity; our collagen c serum, our NEW brightening niacinamide serum, and our multi-vitamin moisturiser - apply them in that exact order daily in your am & pm routine and your skin will feel plump, hydrated and totally restored.

By now you’re probably thinking that Niacinamide can do pretty much everything and work for pretty much everyone - and if that’s the case, I’ve done a pretty great job of telling you all about it. Because it’s true, Niacinamide is a show-stopping powerhouse ingredient that can do absolute wonders for your skin, regardless of skin type.

So, I only have one question left for you… did you want our NEW Brightening Niacinamide Serum delivered or would you like to pick up from our Gold Coast HQ?
