How to Take Care of Your Skin while Travelling

How to Take Care of Your Skin while Travelling - Sabbia Co
The borders are finally open, travel is back and we couldn’t be happier. To say that we’ve gone a little stir crazy over the last two years is a wild understatement.
I’m sure you’re in the same boat and eyeing off flights to anywhere and everywhere right now and planning your first post-pandemic getaway - or maybe you’re one of the lucky ones that have already soared the international skies. Perhaps you're reading this from Mykonos (which, if so, we are so jealous of you right now!)
Now that I’m done going on all about my desperate need to travel and my (justified) jealousy of those travelling, let’s get into my top 3 tips for preparing your skincare routine for your travels!

1. Travelling with your full-size products can be a nuisance
To give you extra souvenir space in your luggage, I highly recommend investing in our sample starter kit (which conveniently perfectly doubles as a travel starter kit).
The sample starter kit includes five 15ml bottles of our hero skincare products, and a sample jar of our best-selling matcha clay mask - giving you easy access to a full routine in travel-ready sustainable packaging.
Or if you are committed to travelling with your 10 step skincare routine, travel capsules like these from cadence have become increasingly popular for travel!

2. Prepare your skincare routine for the weather you’re headed to.
It’s important that you consider the weather of where you’re headed to. Most international travel destinations will have altering seasons to us here in Australia, so pack for the season you’re headed to, not the one you’re leaving. If you’re not sure what the weather’s like where you’re headed, check out wunderground to see what you’re in for!
Tip: If you’ve never been stuck in a snowstorm before, and you’re travelling to an area with a 🤞🏻possibility🤞🏻 of snow - make sure you’ve got your hydrating skincare products and lip balms at the ready!

3. Don’t do your skincare on the plane!
When it comes to ‘day of’ skincare, focus on a hydrating skincare routine before and after your flight - not during. Trust me, doing skin care on the plane does more harm than good. Rather than letting the vacuum-sealed air of the plane do any more damage to your skin, apply a double layer of your moisturiser prior to getting to the airport. This will give you a protective hydration seal that will protect your moisture barrier throughout your flight. Bonus points, if your moisturiser contains peptides, like our Multi-Vitamin Moisturiser. Peptides help strengthen your moisture barrier, so implementing this into your pre-flight routine will help give your skin the best chance of coming out the other side unscathed.
Tip: You definitely want to pop on a 50+ SPF before jetting off, and reapply throughout the flight (especially if you don’t have control of the windows, and if it’s a long-haul daytime flight). You’d be surprised how often people get sunburnt on planes!
