Q&A with Rebecca Gawthorne - Dietitian & Nutritionist.
How do you maintain your gorgeous glow?
I believe a big part of it comes from living a healthy lifestyle. For me this means eating lots of nutritious foods with a focus on plant foods, drinking lots of water, exercising and getting out in the fresh air and sunshine. When I switched to a plant focused diet, I really noticed a big change in my skin.
What is the most common concern of your clients and how to you assist them?
When I saw clients, my primary areas of practice were type 2 diabetes, healthy weight loss, emotional/stress eating, eating for energy and general improvements to health. I assisted my clients through assessing their diet, medical history and lifestyle and making recommendations for their eating and lifestyle based on this.
Can having a healthy gut help reduce acne and breakouts?
There is a lot of exciting research currently being conducted in the area of gut health, with some promising findings linking a healthy gut to improved skin health. While more research needs to be done, there is definitely a link between good gut health and reduced breakouts for some people.
Do you recommend skin care products along with your treatments?
As a dietitian, I can only prescribe food and lifestyle changes to my clients and then I refer on to a dermatologist if needed. However I do share my favourite skincare products on my Instagram @nourish_naturally that I personally love for my own skin :)
Do you believe in the need for change in the beauty world? Referring to single-use consumerism, cosmetics, waste ect.
Yes! I feel we are moving in the right direction but there is a lot more than can and needs to be done.
